Summer & Winter Hosting ProgramsSummer & Winter Hosting Programs

International Child Foundation works in conjunction with the "Adventure of Hope" hosting program, part of Adoption Adventure International, to bring children to the US for 2-4 week visits throughout the year.

Typically the children are age 6-12 and are from Russia or Ukraine. When possible, we bring children from other countries, as well.

The hosting programs are oriented toward families who are considering adoption. It is more than just a holiday for the children: it is their chance to be found by their "forever families."

The children are not informed that their host parents are considering adoption, as we would not wish for them to feel ill at ease. It is an opportunity to get to know each other and share an "adventure."

girl adopted through international adoptionThe initial costs for the program are minimal; largely the fee for a short home visit and police clearances. Families pay the balance of the hosting and adoption fees after they commit to adopt a child.

Children participating in the program are about 30% girls, mostly between the ages of 7-12, and about 70% boys of the same age. There are some sibling groups. Occasionally there will be a younger child, but children under age 5-1/2 are usually not permitted to travel.

older orphaned boy The children are screened for medical issues and generally they are well behaved kids. Some of them may be shy, others boisterous. The travel and hosting program are big events in their young lives and like adults, they react differently.

Most families find the children very endearing and not at all spoiled or demanding. Children are amazed by both the variety of activities and the chance to exercise their own decision-making.

hosting program for older orphaned children Families receive education and support. When they choose to embark on the dossier, they receive complete instructions and assistance. When it is time for them to travel to finalize their adoptions and bring the children home, they are escorted in-country by experienced adoption professionals.
